Ingredients: • 450 g string beans, strings removed • 3 cloves (cengkeh) • 3 black peppercorns • ½ teaspoon sambal oelek • 125 mL water • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar • 2 teaspoon salt • 125 mL vinegar Preparations: • Pack string beans upright in a mason or Pyrex jar. Add cloves, peppercorns and sambal oelek. Set aside. • Bring water, sugar, salt and vinegar to the boil. Simmer for about 10 minutes, then pour liquid over beans • Replace cover on jar. Let stand for at least 3 days before serving
