26th June 2008. :“Tomorrow morning (today) I will also dismiss several other officers,” Hendarman said answering the Council’s questions.
The pressure for Hendarman to take firm action towards the attorneys increased in the hearing. Gayus Lumbuun,an Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle Commission member, demanded Hendarman discharge or give them administrative sanctions. While Beny K. Harman, Gayus’ colleague from the Democratic Party, gave the Attorney General 24 hours to fire the attorneys. “Announce it now is a symbolic step.”
Hendarman stated that the internal investigation results announcement should have been published today (yesterday). However, the announcement was delayed due to the hearing. Yesterday Attorney Wisnu Subroto assisted Hendarman. While Attorney Untung Udji Santoso was not seen and was represented by Suhartoyo. “Untung could not make it,” said Hendarman. Since two weeks ago, at least three attorneys underwent internal investigation due to their involvement in Artalyta’s arrest scenario. This was revealed in their recorded conversation with Artalyta, which was played in the corruption trial. They are Udji Santoso, Intelligence Assistant General Attorney Wisnu Subroto, and former Assistant General Attorney Kemas Yahya Rahman. Kemas was let go last March because he was responsible for Urip’s actions.
To complete the internal investigation results, the counsel wanted to question Artalyta. But the plan was cancelled because the corruption trial did not give permission. Monitoring Assistant General Attorney M.S Rahardjo stated that investigation results showed initial evidence of violations to Presidential Regulations 30/1980 on Civil Servant Discipline. To the Council, Hendarman admitted knowing Urip’s arrest plan after being informed by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chairman Antasari Azhar. He also knew of Artalyta’s arrest plan because he had been called by Attorney Wisnu. Hendarman agreed with Wisnu’s plan. “Was I in the wrong position because I agreed with the plan?” he said. He had suspicions when Artalyta was not arrested by the KPK. But after she was arrested she said, “I am relieved.”
After the hearing, Hendarman would not give the names of the officers who would be dismissed. “We will see tomorrow,” he said. While Wisnu left his fate in the Attorney General’s hands. “It is up to the chairman,” he said. Tempo arrived at Untung’s house in Empu Sendok Street, Kebayoran Baru South Jakarta, but he did not want to meet with them.
